The renovation and expansion of the 31-year-old Clay County Courthouse includes expanding the existing 74,000 SF, four-story building to include eight new courtrooms (four shelled). Work was carried out around the existing courthouse without interfering with the day-to-day operations. The 96,000 SF addition is used for misdemeanor and civil cases, administrative space, a law library and court support services. Elkins also built the Clay County Jail and Sheriff’s Administration Building adjacent to the county courthouse.
