Episcopal School of Jacksonville, Parks Hall & Lastinger Hall

This project included two, two-story classroom buildings an existing, occupied campus, a new courtyard and related sitework. The new buildings add 12 new classrooms to the campus for a total of 26,326 SF. The buildings were constructed from hollow core concrete slabs with insulated concrete form (ICF) walls with a brick veneer, and wood trusses with a shingle roof. A second story walkway will link the two buildings. Colonial muttons on the exterior of the windows give a classic look to the new buildings. The buildings include several sustainable design/construction elements. The superior insulation, air tightness, and mass of ICF walls cut the amount of energy needed for heating and cooling by as much as 50% or more over conventional construction techniques.
