University of South Alabama, Stokes Hall
This 108,000 SF student housing facility for the University of South Alabama has 380 beds on four floors configured in two bedroom, single bath units. There are also two, two-bedroom apartments with full kitchens for the residence assistants. All other units include sinks and space for a small refrigerator. A large main lobby with staircase and elevators lead to all floors. A laundry room, classroom and small recreational space are located on the first floor.
The building was constructed of pre-manufactured metal wall panels, aerated autoclave concrete floor panels, brick and cast stone, and a shingle roof with standing seam metal accents. Located on the interior of the campus, significant daily coordination with subcontractors was required for material delivery to the area, to prevent congestion and schedule delays. This was especially true of the wall and floor panel deliveries which occurred 4-6 times per day.
